The history of this vest began with my involvement with ATSA (American Tactical Shooting Association) back in 1999.  ATSA hosts the annual NTI conference (National Tactical Invitational), now into its 16th year.  There a mentoring with experienced practitioners developed.  During ATSA’s monthly study group meetings, the NTI team members discuss relevant training topics and conduct practical application exercises.  A frequent topic is developing personal techniques of walking about society armed and unnoticed.  We observed a void in the area of quality, purpose driven vests designed to obscure our equipment.  Current product lines marketed as concealed carry vests may veil our tools, but they don’t disguise that we have them.  And, I find them passé in appearance and lacking in material.  As a result, I began prototyping a better alternative.

 

Later during this same time frame, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. Through new associations with others living with inflammatory bowel disease, I observed a crossover need for concealment garments. A segment of the IBD population eventually requires surgery.  Occasionally it involves the need of an ostomy appliance.

 

A culmination of these needs for obscurement ultimately led to the design I present today.  My vest offers a stylish, professional, put-together look appropriate for the well dressed man. No longer does one need to overdress in formal suit or sports coat attire.  Nor must one go under- dressed in an untucked or baggy overshirt. My vest is not a piece of outdoor gear, but rather a quality man’s clothing accessory.

 

The ultimate function of a concealment vest is to be discreet.
